90 degree Change in Forward Direction:
This is a Very
Important Concept and
is directly related to the "double demarcation" lines that appear on squares in front of each player.
First, let us consider the "left" half of a player's game board. A checker piece either moves or jumps
diagonally forward from its start position UNTIL it is on or to the left of, a square that has double demarcation lines ...
at this point its forward direction has turned 90 degrees to the left and now is directed toward the opponent on
the left (rotate this checker until the gold strip on its rim is pointing to the left) and future moves of this
piece are diagonally forward towards this opponent's base line. Likewise, a checker piece on the "right"
half of a player's game board changes direction (90 degrees) toward the opponent on the right when encountering
double demarcation lines.
(demarcation lines do not affect the movement
of a King)
