Players: Each
player plays in turn in a clockwise direction.
Object of the Game:
Each player will try to capture ANY opponent's piece (i.e.
jump over an opponent's checker piece and land on an empty square).
For one player to win the Game:
i) all opponents' pieces must be captured ... OR
ii) all opponents' pieces must be either blocked or captured. *If neither of these 2 goals can be reached
the Game is a DRAW.
Set-Up:
The set up is the same as described in Chessapeak Checkers
with partners. However if the game is played with less than 4 players, a checker piece can not be crowned on an
empty base row. You should really not set up those pieces that will not be played when your playing 2 or 3 Player
Cutthroat Checkers.
90 degree Change in Foward Direction:
This is a Very
Important Concept and
is directly related to the "double demarcation" lines that appear on squares in front of each player.
First, let us consider the "left" half of a player's game board. A checker piece either moves or jumps
diagonally forward from its start position UNTIL it is on or to the left of, a square that has double demarcation lines ...
at this point its forward direction has turned 90 degrees to the left and now is directed toward the opponent on
the left (rotate this checker until the gold strip on its rim is pointing to the left) and future moves of this
piece are diagonally forward towards this opponent's base line. If You Do Not Choose to change FORWARD DIRECTION
(when you first encounter these double demarcation lines), ALL your future forward direction moves with this checker
piece will continue as before & the "gold strip" on this checker "will continue to point
straight" ahead. Likewise, a checker piece on the "right" half of a player's game board can
change direction 90 degrees (OR decide not to) toward the base line on the right when encountering double
demarcation lines.
(demarcation lines do not affect the movement
of a King)
The Jump and Capture:
Like those previously described except the 2 Game options don't
apply.
