Promotion When a Pawn reaches one of its "active" opponents' base rows it can be promoted to a more powerful Chess piece (but not a King). A stalemated player is inactive.
Check: When an enemy is in position to take a player's King, the King is said to be in "check'. Therefore, on the next move the player must try to escape.
i) If possible, he may capture the opposing piece.
ii) He may move the King out of danger (but not by castling).
iii) He may place one of his own pieces between the King and the attacking
piece. If the attacking piece is a Knight, this is not possible.
iv) If the check came from the opponent to your left, then your partner may be able to remove the check before your next turn.Checkmate: If a player (at the time of his turn) cannot get out of check and his partner was unable to help him then the player that put him in check will checkmate him. Note: The first checkmated player of a pair stays in the game. Immediately he must remove his Chess pieces according to Checkmate Config. #1 or Checkmate Config. #2 (preselected prior to game start). Allowing the checkmated player to continue in this manner prevents his opponents from assuming an immediate huge advantage.
Checkmate Config. #1 or Checkmate Config. #2: These configurations are critical components required to to effectively play the game. Purchase a game and receive complete, detailed description and rules. We have several different models of this game that are priced to meet everyone's budget.
Optional Play: CHESSapeak Challenge ® can be played in 2, 3 or 4 Player mode. As partners or individuals. In a 2 Player "partnership mode" game; one Player would control the Light colored pieces and the other the dark colored pieces. In 2 Player "individual mode" the players play opposite each other and may elect to disregard the double demarcation lines. In the 3 Player "partnership mode" game, one player could control 2 sets of pieces and the other 2 Players would play as partners and be allowed to openly discuss their moves with each other. With the 3 Player "individual mode" game, the player flanked on each side by the others will have more advantages with his pawns. In 4 Player "individual mode", when a Player is checkmated, that Player and all his Chess pieces are out of the game. Be aware that the removal of these Chess pieces could threaten a remaining player; even to the point of being put in check. In all the "individual mode" games a checkmated player's pieces are removed from the game.
